Adjustment of pressure between blanket and impression cylinder
is done by one each knurled knob
(ill. 6/19). Settings are shown on graduated scales (ill. 37/3)
Deduct 0.1 mm (.004”) from the
thickness of the stock to be printed and set both scales to this value (ill.
28/3). (0.1 mm = .004” is the pressure required.) (Observe: Measure paper
thickness by means of micrometer or other suitable thickness gauge, the
grammage of the paper does not indicated a true thickness.)
Example I
Carton 0.4 mm (.016”) thick, offset plate
0.10 mm (.004”) thick, blanket with
underlay level with bearer
Cardboard 0.40
mm (.016”)
-pressure 0.10 mm (.004”)
+ 0.30 mm (.012”)
The pressure indicators have to be
adjusted to
face the black number –
0.3 Thus,
the blanket cylinder is -0.3
mm (.012”)
of its zero-position.
(From impression cylinder.)

Paper 0.05 mm (.002”) thick, offset
plate 0.10 mm (.004”) thick,
blanket and underlay level with bearer
Paper
0.05 mm (.002”)
-pressure 0.10 mm (.004”)
- 0.05 mm (.002”)
Pressure indicators face the red
number + 0.05. Blanket cylinder
is + 0.05 mm
(.002”) off its
zero-position.
(Towards
impression cylinder.)

Example II
Carton 0.4 mm (.016”) thick, offset
plate 0.15 mm (.006”) thick,
blanket and underlays 0.05 mm
(.002”)
below bearer
Cardboard 0.40 mm (.016”)
-pressure 0.10 mm (.004”)
-blanket below bearer 0.05 mm (.002”)
![]()
+ 0.25 mm (.010”)
Pressure indicators facing the black
number –
0.25. Blanket cylinder is
0.25 mm (.010”) of its zero-position.
(From impression cylinder.)

Paper 0.05 mm (.002”) thick, offset
plate 0.15 mm (.006”) thick,
blanket and underlay 0.05 mm
(.002”) below bearer
Paper 0.05 mm (.002”)
-pressure 0.10 mm (.004”)
-blanket below paper 0.05 mm (.002”)
![]()
-0.10 mm (.004”)
Pressure indicators face the red number
+ 0.10.
Blanket cylinder is + 0.10 mm
(.004”) off
its zero-position.
(Towards impression cylinder.)
